Lyricist Kim Eana Shares Stories About Working With IU, SHINee, VIXX, And More
Lyricist Kim Eana has shared some interesting behind-the-scenes stories of her experience working with artists!
Kim Eana is known for writing lyrics to hit tracks of artists including IU, EXO, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon, MONSTA X, VIXX, and more.
The lyricist revealed that the first time she ever worked with an idol group was through SHINee’s “Hello.” Kim Eana commented, “I feel the urge to needlessly tell everyone that I wrote the lyrics to ‘Hello’ when I visit the broadcasting station. It was a song that SHINee had promoted with during their prime.”
About VIXX’s “G.R.8.U,” Kim Eana explained that she originally had not agreed to the title. She explained, “It was a popular phrase that was overly used at the time. I understood why the director wanted to go with that title, but I thought the title would become less significant over time.” The lyricist continued, “When I shared on social media that I didn’t agree to the title, it even topped realtime search engines. I was thankful that many VIXX fans agreed with me.”
Kim Eana has also worked with IU on numerous songs, and they produced many hit tracks including “Good Day,” “You & I,” “Every End of the Day,” “Red Shoes,” and more. The lyricist stated, “IU is the artist with the greatest capacity that I’ve ever encountered. I cannot describe what kind of person she is with only a few words.” She continued, “IU definitely has her own world and is someone with depth. From the beginning, I knew she had something special, and I was right.”
The lyricist also picked some songs with lyrics that hold a special place in her heart. One of the tracks was IU’s “Everyone Has Secrets” featuring Brown Eyed Girls’s Ga In. Kim Eana explained, “I wanted IU and Ga In to feel the freedom of not having to fit into a certain image that people had created for them. I believe that while singing, the lyrics can turn into your own story and affect the way you think.”
