Results For Day 1 Of "2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special"
MBC kicked off its broadcast of the “2019 Idol Star Athletics Championships – Chuseok Special” on September 12!
The special has now aired its first episode, which features the idol athletes taking part in events including track-and-field, archery, ssireum (wrestling), and eSports. Part two of the special will air on September 13.
Idols who took part in the events this year included (G)I-DLE, EVERGLOW, ITZY, TWICE, GWSN, NATURE, DIA, DreamCatcher, Lovelyz, Red Velvet, MOMOLAND, Berry Good, SATURDAY, IZ*ONE, Oh My Girl, WJSN, Weki Meki, LOONA, Cherry Bullet, fromis_9, Holics, 1TEAM, AB6IX, CIX, JBJ95, NCT 127, NCT Dream, NOIR, SF9, Stray Kids, VERIVERY, Golden Child, The Boyz, DONGKIZ, D1CE, Limitless, GreatGuys, ASTRO, ONF, 1THE9, IMFACT, TREI, and PENTAGON. The main events were hosted by Super Junior’s Leeteuk, TWICE’s Dahyun, and Jun Hyun Moo.

60-Meter Sprint — Girls
The track-and-field events included the 60-meter sprint for male and female athletes.
The gold medal in the 60-meter sprint for female athletes was taken by Holics’ Yeonjung for the second season in a row, this time with a speed of 8.97 seconds. WJSN’s Yeoreum took silver with a speed of 9.44 seconds and LOONA’s Yves took bronze with a speed of 9.524 seconds.
60-Meter Sprint — Boys
The gold medal in 60-meter spring for male athletes was grabbed by GreatGuys’ Hwalchan with a speed of 7.39 seconds. The silver went to NOIR’s Yunsung with a speed of 7.43 seconds and Golden Child’s Jangjun took bronze with his speed of 7.45 seconds.
Ssireum (Wrestling) – Boys
“Idol Star Athletics Championships” brought back the ssireum event for this season, and the male teams who made the semi-finals were Golden Child, ASTRO, ONF, and AB6IX.
The finals came down to ASTRO and AB6IX, with a Korean beef set on the line. Although AB6IX’s Lim Young Min won in the first round, ASTRO’s Rocky won the second. The final round featured ASTRO’s Moonbin and AB6IX’s Jeon Woong going head to head. Right after the round began, Moonbin swiftly lifted Jeon Woong up into the air to take him down, which even seemed to amaze his fellow ASTRO members.
ASTRO therefore grabbed the gold medal (and beef).
Archery
The female athletes up for archery this season were Oh My Girl, WJSN, TWICE, and Lovelyz. Their first matches determined that the final round, which will air tomorrow, will be between WJSN and Lovelyz.
The male teams taking part in archery were Stray Kids, The Boyz, NCT 127, and PENTAGON, with Stray Kids and NCT 127 advancing to the finals.
400-Meter Relay Preliminaries
Through the the preliminaries for female athletes in the 400-meter relay, DreamCatcher, IZ*ONE, WJSN, and MOMOLAND earned a spot in the finals. For the male athletes, Golden Child, Stray Kids, The Boyz, and ASTRO were sent on to the finals.
eSports – Individual
The new event of eSports was introduced this season, with the idol athletes playing PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Mobile. SF9’s Dawon and VAV’s Lou faced off in the final match, and Lou ended up taking home the gold medal.
