Watch: Yoo Jae Suk Thrills The Crowd With His Transformation Into A Trot Singer
Yoo Jae Suk tried his hand at being a trot singer on MBC’s “How Do You Play?”!
For the September 21 broadcast of the show, the producers planned a special project for Yoo Jae Suk, who has often shown his love for the trot genre.
Yoo Jae Suk, who had no idea what was happening, was taken to trot composer Park Hyun Woo’s studio. Asked to sing a song, Yoo Jae Suk sang Jin Sung’s “At Andong Station” (literal title), and Park Hyun Woo praised his singing skills and vocal timbre. He suggested that they try recording the song, and the composer showered Yoo Jae Suk with praise once again.
Later, veteran singers Tae Jin Ah, Kim Yeon Ja, and Jin Sung evaluated Yoo Jae Suk’s recording without knowing whose voice it was. All three of them gave sharp criticism, and Tae Jin Ah gave 53 points out of 100. However, when Yoo Jae Suk suddenly appeared in front of them, they went back on their words and told him he did a great job.
A few days later, Yoo Jae Suk met with Jin Sung once again and showed how much his singing skills had improved. Jin Sung told Yoo Jae Suk, “The song’s quality has gone up to 80 percent. For an amateur, you have a good sense of rhythm. I was really surprised. You’ve gotten much better.”
He continued, “I have a trial performance for you. I have a performance in the evening, and I’ll be standing in front of a large crowd.” He then told Yoo Jae Suk to perform on the stage with him.
They also decided on Yoo Jae Suk’s stage name as a trot singer. Out of the many options they came up with, they decided to go with Yoo San Seul (a Korean-style Chinese dish made of fried vegetables, meat, and seafood).
