3 Reasons Why "Melting Me Softly" Is A Must-Watch Drama
tvN’s “Melting Me Softly” promises a never-before-seen kind of drama with a unique story revolving around “frozen humans.”
Here are three reasons why viewers should tune into this new series:
Shocking and refreshing plot
Ma Dong Chan (played by Ji Chang Wook) and Go Mi Ran (played by Won Jin Ah) participate in a science experiment of being frozen for 24 hours, but they wake up after 20 years instead. Everything has changed in the year 2019 including increased bus fare and cool smartphones.
Waking up after 20 years Ma Dong Chan strikes a deal with his workplace. Speaking to the broadcasting company president Kim Hong Seok (played by Jung Hae Kyun) and director Son Hyun Gi (played by Im Won Hee), Ma Dong Chan says, “I’ll go to a different network. They’ll go crazy at the station!” Go Mi Ran also goes to the network and demands a large amount of compensation for the 20 years of her life. Will the two characters be able to resolve their difficult situations?
Past vs. present romance of frozen humans
Go Mi Ran suddenly slaps Ma Dong Chan for losing 20 years of her life because of him. She yells, “Give me back my lost 20 years!” Although it seems as if they might be enemies, they actually form a friendship while bickering and even hint at the possibility of something more with the looks in their eyes.
Other characters, however, will intervene between the two characters’ possible romance including Ma Dong Chan’s ex-girlfriend Na Ha Young (played by Yoon Se Ah) from 20 years ago, Go Mi Ran’s ex-boyfriend Hwang Byung Shim (played by Shim Hyung Tak), and Go Mi Ran’s fling Hwang Ji Hoon (played by Golden Child’s Bomin). What will happen to their romance that’s stuck between the past and present?
Deadly side effects of the experiment
Ma Dong Chan and Go Mi Ran experience unfortunate side effects from the freezing experiment. They must maintain a normal body temperature of 31.5 degrees Celsius (approximately 88.7 degrees Fahrenheit) and not surpass 33 degrees Celsius (approximately 91.4 degrees Fahrenheit) in order to survive.
Their lives will be in danger if their hearts race and body temperatures rise, possibly ruling out love in their future. However, some preview quotes suggest that they may be willing to take on the challenge. Ma Dong Chan says to Go Mi Ran, “Even if you happen to faint, faint after getting my permission first.” Go Mi Ran expresses confusion about Ma Dong Chan, commenting, “What is up with this human? I can’t kill him or revive him.”
“Melting Me Softly” premieres on September 28 at 9 p.m. KST and will be available on Viki!
