Shin Se Kyung Talks About Working With Cha Eun Woo And Her Character In "Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung"
Shin Se Kyung looks ethereal in her new photo shoot with High Cut!
During the interview that followed the photo shoot, Shin Se Kyung talked about her drama “Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung.” She shared, “Even among the sageuk (historical drama) characters I’ve acted as, Goo Hae Ryung has a unique charm.” The actress talked about breaking free from stereotypes while trying to express Goo Hae Ryung since her character clashes with other women of her time period.
She continued, “The character has many aspects that are similar to me. After throwing away that concern [of breaking free from stereotypes], things were expressed the way I wanted them to be expressed, and I thought it wouldn’t be unreasonable to actively call upon and use [traits] from my true self from modern times. I think I expressed the things I wanted to express at 120 percent.”
Shin Se Kyung also touched upon her chemistry with her co-star ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo. She said, “Although he must be tackling an extremely busy schedule, he fundamentally has a very bright energy. Not just me, but the production crew also received a positive impact from [Cha Eun Woo]. This also largely influenced the decision for the image and tone of ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung.'”
Finally, the actress also talked about her popular YouTube channel. She shared, “I like cooking on a normal basis, and I thought it would be good to leave a record of those everyday life moments. Furthermore, I thought it would be an exciting way to communicate with fans during my periods of rest.” She added, “I learned how to edit videos on YouTube. As everyone can tell if they’ve watched, I’m sticking to the method of basically just dragging [videos] and pasting. I bought a laptop for the first time for editing [purposes].”
