FTISLAND's Lee Hong Ki Talks About Enlistment + Lee Jae Jin Speaks On Playing Same Role In Musical
FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Ki and Lee Jae Jin attended the press call for musical “I Loved You” on September 26 at the Seongnam Arts Center’s Opera House, and opened up about Lee Hong Ki’s upcoming enlistment.
Lee Hong Ki is set to enlist on September 30, and he will perform in the musical until the day before he enlists. When asked how he felt, Lee Hong Ki said, “I can’t describe in words the feeling of knowing there are four days left till my enlistment,” and “Though I’m nervous, I’m also excited.”
He continued to add, “I’m going to enjoy myself till I go, and I’m glad that I get to perform until I respond to the call of my country. I chose to do this musical since I prefer live concerts over broadcasted activities because I like to do things that make me feel alive.”
Fellow bandmate Lee Jae Jin will be taking over the role once Lee Hong Ki enlists and he said, “I haven’t stood on stage yet since my first performance is on October 1. I’ll be filling in for Lee Hong Ki in the role of Ki Cheol, so I hope people will anticipate my work.”
Talking about how he plays bass in FTISLAND, he said, “I don’t usually have many chances to sing, and I’d like to show people that side of me through this opportunity. I was cast pretty late, so while I was rehearsing, I was worried about inconveniencing the other cast members. I’m working very hard to prepare for the role.”
“I Loved You” is a jukebox musical based on hit songs by the late Kim Hyun Sik and tells the story of three people who love each other but are in difference spaces. The musical began on September 20 and is set to close its curtains on October 27.
