Watch: MAMAMOO Returns To "Immortal Songs" After More Than A Year With Ballad Performance
On the October 5 episode of KBS’s “Immortal Songs,” guest performers Yu Sung Eun and Giant Pink, MAMAMOO, Yook Joong Wan Band, gugudan’s Nayoung and VERIVERY, (G)I-DLE, and Hoppipolla covered famous songs from Koyote.
For MAMAMOO, the hosts pointed out that MAMAMOO was finally returning to the show after a year and six months. Hwasa said, “Everything has changed a lot. It seems like the show has made some money,” which was a reference to the bigger waiting room.
When asked to pick a rival, Hwasa jokingly looked at Yook Joong Wan, who said, “Actually, we lost to MAMAMOO last time. We wanted to face them again.”
In an interview before their performance, MAMAMOO shared that they had chosen Koyote’s song “Meeting” and said, “We discovered that it was based on Im Ki Hoon’s song. It’s a very calm ballad that was reinterpreted into a fun dance track by Koyote. We decided to return the song to its ballad roots to fit the current season of autumn.”
MAMAMOO performed second, after Yu Sung Eun and Giant Pink, and won the matchup. Performing after them was Yook Joong Wan Band, who put on a 1970s-era retro performance and ended up taking the win over MAMAMOO. The final winners of the episode were Hoppipolla.
