BTS's J-Hope Becomes 2nd Korean Solo Artist To Enter UK's Official Singles Chart Top 100 With "Chicken Noodle Soup"
BTS’s J-Hope has become the second Korean solo artist to enter the Top 100 of the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart with his latest solo track “Chicken Noodle Soup”!
J-Hope took samples from Webstar and Young B’s 2006 track “Chicken Noodle Soup” and added his personal style with Korean lyrics and a new choreography to come up with his own version of “Chicken Noodle Soup.” The track also features American artist Becky G.
Following its release on September 27, the track gathered huge success internationally by topping iTunes charts in at least 69 countries, and as of October 6 KST, its music video has reached over 63 million views on YouTube.
The track also makes J-Hope the second Korean solo artist to debut on the United Kingdom’s Official Singles Chart. The song placed No. 82 on the chart for the week starting on October 4 and ending on October 10. This is seven years after PSY became the first Korean solo artist to enter and top the chart with “Gangnam Style” in 2012.
“Chicken Noodle Soup” also placed No. 9 on the Official Independent Singles Chart for the same week.
This is not the first time that J-Hope has set records on the Official Charts, as BTS became the first Korean group to top the Official Albums Chart with “Map of the Soul: Persona” in April.
Congratulations to J-Hope! Check out the music video of “Chicken Noodle Soup” here.
