Gong Yoo And Jung Yu Mi Talk About Their Friendship And Its Impact On Their Upcoming Film

On October 16, Gong Yoo and Jung Yu Mi participated in an interview about their upcoming film “Kim Ji Young, Born 1982.”

Based on a best-selling novel that sold over a million copies in Korea, “Kim Ji Young, Born 1982” tells the story of a woman in her 30s named Kim Ji Young and her life experiences as a daughter, wife, mother, and co-worker. Jung Yu Mi will play the main protagonist Kim Ji Young, and Gong Yoo will play her loving husband Jung Dae Hyun.

This will be the third time that Jung Yu Mi and Gong Yoo star in a film together after the 2011 film “Silenced” and the 2016 film “Train to Busan.” During the interview, the two actors took time to talk about their friendship and how they feel about working together for the third time.

Jung Yu Mi said, “We appear as a married couple in the film, but we didn’t have a lot of scenes together.” She continued, “This is the first time we took on roles that have such an intimate relationship. We talked a lot about feelings for each scene. Because we know each other’s personality, there were things that we just felt without having to say them out loud. I was thankful for that.”

The actress added, “It doesn’t always mean that actors begin to share each other’s thoughts or get closer just because they work together. I’m thankful that I have a colleague with whom I get to talk about work comfortably. We filmed ‘Silenced’ well, and we also had fun while filming ‘Train to Busan.’ I do not know how the audience will react to the upcoming film, but I think we did well with telling the story like we’ve done with our previous works.”

Gong Yoo commented, “Even if we hadn’t worked together for the third time, Jung Yu Mi would still be a friend and a colleague with whom I feel comfortable. We feel comfortable because we are friends, but we also have the passion to help each other by being respectful and considerate of one another when we are acting.”
