WINNER's Kang Seung Yoon Shares His Thoughts On Making Comeback Amidst YG's Recent Events

On October 23, WINNER held a press conference for the release of their third mini album “CROSS” and shared their thoughts on the recent controversies surrounding YG Entertainment.

Kang Seung Yoon said, “Honestly, it would be a lie to say we didn’t have a hard time. We saw articles and reactions from different people, so we had a hard time. But thankfully, we had several opportunities to meet our fans. We had festivals, college festivals, and events, so we were able to heal ourselves through these things. We were able to hang on while thinking that the right thing to do is to give fans a good impression of us by working hard on our next album.”

“CROSS” is WINNER’s first album since Yang Hyun Suk’s resignation from his position in YG Entertainment. Regarding this, Kang Seung Yoon shared, “We had nowhere to get feedback or help from, so there were more situations in which we as team WINNER had to make our own decisions. There are lots of shocking scenes in the music video, and we discussed with each other about whether this was the right thing to do. We even met with the music video director about six times. We kept modifying it, saying things like, ‘This is going too far,’ and such.”

“It’s true that there were some hard parts to it, but it also gave us a chance to highlight the message we wanted to convey,” the WINNER member continued. “In the past, we continuously released refreshing songs that are easy to listen to, but this time, [the song] has a message. Like this, we tried to think about it in a positive way and worked hard to make this album.”

WINNER’s “CROSS” will be released online on October 23 at 6 p.m. KST and will be available offline starting October 29. Check out the teasers for the album here!
