Niwa Shiori Speaks Up About Potential Vote Manipulation Of 'Produce 101'

Niwa Shiori, a Japanese trainee from the first season of “Produce 101,” spoke about the recent vote manipulation controversy.

Producing director Ahn Joon Young reportedly admitted recently during police questioning to manipulating the rankings for “Produce 48” and “Produce X 101” while denying manipulation of the rankings for the first two seasons of “Produce 101.”

On November 7, Niwa Shiori wrote on Twitter, “Competition programs are predetermined from the start and I don’t think ‘Produce 101’ was different.” She said, “When we first heard ‘Pick Me,’ some of the trainees were already fully versed in the song and choreography.”

She continued, “I was originally not going to say anything about the possible manipulation, but I had a really hard time after ‘Produce 101’ aired.” She added, “I would like everyone to know that the majority of the trainees are like me and have no fault in this.”

Niwa Shiori then deleted the tweeted and posted another saying, “I apologize for the wording of my previous post that led to misunderstandings.” She explained, “I was only talking about the producers and staff and wanted to say that the trainees had no part in this.”

Niwa Shiori participated in the program as a Majesty Entertainment trainee. She ranked 68 on the first episode and ranked 77 on episode 5 when she was eliminated.
