Update: Brand New Music Files Legal Complaints Against Malicious Comments

Brand New Music has officially filed complaints against the malicious comments and rumors regarding their artists.
The following statement was released on December 26:
Hello, this is Brand New Music.
Through our previous notice, we announced that we would be taking strong legal action against malicious behaviors such as rumors, spreading of false facts, defamation, personal attacks, and insults directed towards our artists.
Based on the evidence we gathered through reports from fans and our own monitoring, we filed a complaint to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office today (December 26) for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) and the Criminal Act (insult).
Brand New Music will continue to take strong legal measures without leniency regarding all malicious behaviors that violate the personal rights of our artists and trample on the hard work of our employees.
We will continue to share the progress of the procedures. We ask fans for their cooperation. Thank you.

First of all, we would like to express our sincere gratitude to fans for their generous love for our artists.
We recently determined that the malicious rumors, false facts, defamation, personal attacks, and insults being spread online against our artists have crossed the line. We are making it clear that we will take strong legal action.
Based on the data collected by fans and the data we have directly monitored, we will continue to carry out strong measures. We would further like to inform you that [the perpetrators] in some of the cases that were being processed have already been punished after investigation.
Looking at the the court’s recent rulings, behaviors like the ones mentioned above are being punished with heavy penalties like prison sentences. In order to prevent such conduct from repeating, we will continue to respond strongly and do our utmost to protect our artists.
We would like to thank fans once more for their love towards Brand New Music artists, and we ask for your continued warm interest and support.
