Prosecution Revealed To Have Closed Case On Yang Hyun Suk’s Prostitution Mediation Suspicions

The prosecution has concluded that they cannot charge Yang Hyun Suk with mediating prostitution.

Previously, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Provincial Special Detective Division revealed plans to forward a recommendation of non-indictment for Yang Hyun Suk regarding suspicions of mediating prostitution. After the search and seizure investigation of YG Entertainment’s financial accounts, police sources revealed that while they found money transfers, there was not enough evidence to prove the prostitution mediation suspicions. Furthermore, although there was evidence that confirmed Yang Hyun Suk met with investors from Southeast Asia, there was no evidence that was directly connected to prostitution.

According to legal sources on November 25, the Division of Crimes Against Women & Children of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office suspended the indictment of Yang Hyuk Suk on September 30 regarding the suspicion of mediating prostitution.

The prosecution also suspended the indictment of the other people involved in the case, including Madam Jung and wealthy investor “A,” who were suspected to have mobilized women from entertainment establishments at the time.

Yang Hyun Suk was accused of mediating prostitution in July and September 2014 at a high-end restaurant in Seoul for “A.” There were also suspicions that Yang Hyun Suk arranged prostitution services when “A” traveled abroad with ten women at entertainment establishments in October of the same year.

Prior to the prosecution, the police also investigated the allegations based on financial transaction statements, phone records, and testimonies from women who attended the events but concluded that there was no objective evidence of prostitution.

The police forwarded Yang Hyun Suk and others to the prosecution on September 20, and the prosecution later decided that the police’s conclusion was reasonable following a strengthened investigation.

The police partially confirmed the sexual relationship between “A” and women at an adult entertainment establishment overseas but found no specific statement or objective evidence to suggest that there was prostitution. They also found it difficult to confirm that Yang Hyun Suk actively mediated prostitution or paid the women for it.

Meanwhile, Yang Hyun Suk has completed police questioning regarding allegations that he covered up a drug incident involving former iKON member B.I in 2016. In addition, the police have forwarded Yang Hyun Suk and Seungri to the prosecution on charges of habitual gambling.
