KBS Reports Details Of Jung Joon Young's Crimes From His Court Ruling
On December 3, KBS released an exclusive report on Jung Joon Young’s crimes after getting a copy of the court’s written judgement in his sentencing trial on November 29.
According to KBS’s report, the 67-page written judgement breaks down the incidents of illegal filming and distribution that the court ruled to be a crime. According to the judgement, Jung Joon Young shared his illegally taken photos and videos in five group chats and three personal chats in the period between December 2015 and June 2016. There were about 10 victims, including two non-Koreans, and it is possible that some were victimized more than once. There were about 14 recipients of the illegal materials across the eight chatrooms.
KBS drew special attention to the date of November 26, 2015, when Jung Joon Young shared illegally filmed footage three times in a single day, indicating that these crimes were just part of his daily life. The materials were filmed at his home, in adult entertainment establishments, in hotels abroad, and once aboard an aircraft. Some of the victims were aware that the filming had taken place, but they did not know that the materials were being distributed and did not give permission for him to do so.
KBS also pointed out that the court’s judgement only contained details of the charges that the prosecution officially brought against Jung Joon Young. Jung Joon Young reportedly erased his “golden phone” at the beginning of the police investigation, indicating that he could have illegally filmed and distributed on a much larger scale than described in the court judgement.
On November 29, Jung Joon Young, Choi Jong Hoon, and three other individuals were sentenced to prison on charges of aggravated rape.
