Jung Woo Sung To Take Part In Producing New Sci-Fi Drama
Actor Jung Woo Sung will be participating in producing a new Netflix original series titled “The Sea of Silence” (literal translation).
On December 23, Netflix announced that it will produce a new Korean series that is a science fiction thriller in space. “The Sea of Silence” is set in a future where desertification worldwide has created water and food shortages. It tells the story of a special team who goes to retrieve mysterious samples from a research base abandoned on the moon.
“The Sea of Silence” is a series of short films of the same title by director Choi Hang Yong who received great attention at the 13th Mise-en-scène Short Film Festival in 2014. The remake of the story into a Netflix series is especially attracting attention because Jung Woo Sung will participate in producing it.
Jung Woo Sung, an A-list actor who was awarded with the Best Actor Award at the Blue Dragon Film Awards this year, has garnered attention for taking on refreshing challenges. He was also involved in turning the short film “Don’t Forget Me” into a feature-length film, and he produced and starred in the 2016 movie. Expectations are high as he shows another transformation with Netflix as a producer.
The screenplay of “The Sea of Silence” will be written by Park Eun Kyo, who won the 29th Screenplay Award at the Korean Film Critics Association for the film “Mother.” The drama will be directed by Choi Hang Yong, who directed the original short film.
