"M Countdown" Releases Statement About January Music Chart + Upcoming Broadcast
Mnet’s “M Countdown” has made an official announcement regarding its chart for the first week of January.
On December 26, “M Countdown” released a statement explaining how its chart is affected by programming changes due to year-end shows and award ceremonies.
The show tweeted, “The ‘M Countdown’ chart is calculated using songs that are being promoted on music shows. Since all music shows are not airing live at this time, the ‘M Countdown’ chart will not be calculated for the first week of January, and a New Year special broadcast will air live instead.”

The “M Countdown” chart is calculated using a song’s digital music sales score (45 percent), album sales score (15 percent), social media score (20 percent), global fan voting (10 percent), and broadcast score (10 percent).
For its latest broadcast on December 26, “M Countdown” aired the second installment of its year-end special and did not show any new performances.
“M Countdown” airs on Thursdays at 6 p.m. KST.
