"Parasite" Reportedly Being Remade Into HBO Series By Bong Joon Ho + "The Big Short" Director Adam McKay
The story of “Parasite” may be headed to television.
On January 9, Hollywood Reporter reported that the hit film’s director Bong Joon Ho and director Adam McKay are in talks to executive produce “Parasite” as an English limited series for HBO. Variety confirmed the news and added that it has not yet been confirmed if the series would be a direct remake or spinoff.
Adam McKay is well-known for his films including “Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy,” “The Big Short,” and “Vice.” If talks come to fruition, this would be Bong Joon Ho’s second work to be adapted into an American series following his 2013 film “Snowpiercer” which was adapted into a series for TNT.
“Parasite” recently won Best Foreign Language Film at the 77th Golden Globe Awards, adding to its many nominations and accolades this award season. The film is shortlisted as a strong contender for the upcoming 92nd Academy Awards.
