JYP Shares Updates On Cases Of Legal Action To Protect 2PM And Stray Kids

On January 14, JYP Entertainment released statements regarding legal actions the agency is taking to protect artists 2PM and Stray Kids.

The statement regarding 2PM is below:

Hello, this is JYPE.

We sincerely thank the fans who have given 2PM their steadfast support.

We are writing to update you on the situation following the submission of a criminal complaint regarding the invasion of our artist’s privacy and the intimidation, which we gave a notice about last year.

Currently, we are continually making updates about the harm being done to our artists and adding to the complaint documents, and we are conducting an investigation not only within Korea but both domestically and internationally.

In addition, as stated above, we have found that although we issued a notice last July that we had filed a criminal complaint about the invasion of our artist’s privacy and intimidation, the problem still persists.

We once again clearly state that we will take strong measures without any leniency against all actions that hamper our artists from carrying out safe activities, such as intimidation and the invasion of their privacy. Even if it takes a long time, we will do our best until the end for the punishment of the perpetrators.

The statement for Stray Kids is as follows:

Hello, this is JYPE.

Recently there have been repeated incidents of invasion of privacy through the use of our artist’s personal information.

The Stray Kids members are being negatively affected mentally to a considerable degree due to their personal information being used to contact them at all hours of the day and to send spam messages.

This is against the law, including a violation of the Personal Information Protection Act, and if this behavior persists then we will be taking legal action. We hope that you will immediately cease the leaking and spreading of the Stray Kids members’ personal information and respect the artist’s privacy.

In regard to the notice last week about malicious rumors, we have submitted a criminal complaint and so we are in the midst of carrying out steps related to the complaint.

Thank you for your information for the sake of taking action against those who disseminated the information. We once again inform you that we will take strong measures without any leniency in all issues that hamper our artists from carrying out stable activities, including protecting their personal rights.

We will continue to do our best to protect the artist.
