Yubin And Hyerim Part Ways With JYP Entertainment

JYP Entertainment has announced the departure of Yubin and Hyerim from the agency.

On January 28, the company released the following statement:

Hello, this is JYP Entertainment (hereafter JYP).

This is an announcement that JYP’s exclusive contracts with Yubin and Hyerim have expired as of January 25.

We had in-depth discussions over the past few months, and we came to mutual agreements to not renew their contracts.

Yubin and Hyerim became connected with JYP as they joined Wonder Girls in 2007 and 2010, respectively.

Afterwards, Yubin renewed her contract twice in 2014 and 2017, and she has been promoting as an artist representing JYP for the past 13 years.

Hyerim also renewed her contract in 2017 and showcased her talents in various fields including music and as an MC.

When Wonder Girls first took on the challenge of the U.S. market, K-pop was an unfamiliar genre to music fans overseas.

In 2009, Wonder Girls wrote history for K-pop when “Nobody” became the first K-pop single to chart in on Billboard’s Hot 100 at No. 76.

Their contributions toward developing the K-pop industry that was barren and paving the path towards overseas advancement for many junior artists will be remembered forever.

We have been honored and thankful to work together with these great artists.

All results achieved together with Yubin and Hyerim became the foundation for JYP’s growth and blooming.

The shining footprints they have left were possible thanks to the constant love sent by fans.

We would be thankful if you continue to send unchanging love to the two as they continue taking on different challenges in new places.

As we have until now, we will continue to sincerely cheer on the beautiful futures of Yubin and Hyerim.

Thank you.
