Girls' Generation's Taeyeon Wins Her 1st Ever Solo Daesang At 29th Seoul Music Awards + 3 Awards In Total
Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon took home the Digital Daesang at the 29th Seoul Music Awards!
The event was held on January 30 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, with MCs Jo Bo Ah, Shin Dong Yup, and Super Junior’s Kim Heechul.
That evening, Taeyeon took home three trophies: the Digital Daesang (Grand Prize) for “Four Seasons,” the OST Award for her “Hotel Del Luna” soundtrack “A Poem Titled You,” and a Bonsang (Main Award).
Taeyeon seemed shocked to win the Daesang. Shin Dong Yup pointed out that all the other artists had given her a standing ovation, and he asked her if she hadn’t expected to win. “I really didn’t expect it,” she said.
“I was talking with Red Velvet…” she continued. “But I’m so taken aback right now.”
“First off, thank you so much,” she said. “I think there are so many people here who could have received this. Thank you. I’m so nervous!”
Jo Bo Ah stepped in to ask who she was thinking of the most in that moment, and she replied with a laugh, “I think I should say my mother? I’m thinking of my parents and my members. I want to sincerely thank my fans. You always wait for me. I’m able to keep making music because there are people who listen to it. I sincerely thank you.”
The hosts pointed out that it was her first time receiving a Daesang as a solo artist. Taeyeon said, “There are many amazing composers who create such great songs, and I’m so grateful to them all. I’m going to keep working harder. Thank you. SONE [Girls’ Generation’s fan club], I love you, and thank you.”
