Lee Yi Kyung Talks About Memorable Advice He's Received, His Upcoming Trot Song, And More
Actor Lee Yi Kyung recently guested on KBS Cool FM’s “Kang Han Na’s Volume Up”!
On the February 3 broadcast, Lee Yi Kyung spoke about his experience failing numerous auditions. He explained, “As an actress I’m sure Han Na understands, but I would attend so many auditions. I would attend so many and then fail them. One time I even went to an audition wearing a minbok (traditional Korean garment). I was using public transit at the time, and I would just go to my audition like that. I wasn’t embarrassed to be seen by others.”
He continued, “Joining a production is really something to be thankful for. I’m sure everyone feels like they each have a lottery ticket. They all want to do well. I think those past experiences and hardships led to these results.”
Lee Yi Kyung expressed his thankfulness for senior actors who gave him strength during difficult times. He shared some of their advice, saying, “In the past, one senior actor told me, ‘Flowers don’t just bloom in spring.’ I didn’t get it then, but after some time I understood. Also, when I was busy attending multiple auditions, I must have looked rushed and nervous. Choi Daniel told me, ‘I’m not entirely sure but even Choi Min Sik and Song Kang Ho must feel nervous too. You don’t have to feel so nervous.’ It gave me so much strength. I was thankful.”
DJ Kang Han Na later asked the actor what role he plays at karaoke. He answered, “I’m the type who follows the mood well. If we sing ballads, I start with a ballad, and if we sing exciting songs, I really show them how exciting I can get. If there’s someone sitting quietly without singing at all, I begin to take notice of them.”
Lee Yi Kyung is also set to release a trot song in mid-February. He commented, “I’m not singing because I’m good at it. It’s the same as when people say, ‘Being happy doesn’t make you smile, smiling makes you happy.’ It’ll be good to look forward to it. Please listen to it comfortably without analyzing it. You can listen to it through one ear and let it fall out the other.”
