BTS Grabs No. 1 In 2019 Concert Tickets Sales On Interpark

BTS topped online concert ticket sales for the second consecutive year on Interpark!

On February 6, Korean online ticketing site Interpark released data about ticket sales in 2019.

Although overall ticket sales in 2019 decreased compared to 2018, the concert industry saw a huge increase which caused it to surpass the musical industry for the first time in nine years.

According to the data from Interpark, the ticket sales for 2019 totaled 527.6 billion won (approximately $445.5 million) which is a 3 percent decrease from the previous year.  In 2019, Interpark sold tickets for a total of 13,305 shows including musicals, plays, concerts, classical, dance, and traditional art performances. Out of these categories, the concert industry witnessed explosive growth recording total sales of 247.4 billion won (approximately $208.9 million) and a 10.7 percent increase from 2018.

BTS’s world tour “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” concert in Seoul’s Olympic Stadium ranked No. 1 as the concert with Interpark’s highest ticket sales in 2019. BTS’s fan meeting “BTS 5th Muster [Magic Shop]” in Busan came in fourth while the group’s fan meeting in Seoul came in seventh. BTS previously took the top spot on Interpark’s 2018 concert tickets ranking with their “Love Yourself” concert.

Other shows on this year’s ranking included Park Hyo Shin’s “Live 2019 Lovers: Where Is Your Love” concert which came in second followed by PSY’s “Summer Swag” and “All Night Stand” concerts which recorded third, fifth, eighth, and tenth on the list.

NU’EST’s “Segno” concert in Seoul grabbed sixth place and NU’EST also grabbed the ninth ranking with their “L.O.Λ.E PAGE” fan meeting.

Interpark’s Concert Consulting Team Manager Yoon Hee Jin said, “BTS, who is leading the popularity of K-pop, and other strong live performers including PSY, Lee Seung Hwan, and Park Hyo Shin were successful. The revival of the trot genre created a new market and set the stage for the concert boom. It looks like the trot craze will increase in 2020, and we’re expecting large performances like the ‘Mister Trot’ concert to reinvigorate the concert industry.”
