Mnet Responds To Reports That Pre-Production For "Queendom" Season 2 Has Begun
Mnet has made an official statement in response to reports about a second season of its hit show “Queendom.”
On February 13, Korean news outlet Sports Seoul reported that according to industry insiders, Mnet had finalized their decision to produce a male version of the girl group competition show, entitled “Kingdom.” The report claimed that Mnet was currently in the process of forming a team of producers for the program’s upcoming second season.
Mnet responded to the report by stating, “We are still in the discussion stages of production, and no formal decisions have been made about programming. We are still discussing whether [Season 2] will consist of girl groups or boy groups.”
“Queendom,” which aired its first season last fall, featured a star-studded lineup of girl groups facing off against one another in various competitions before culminating in a fierce “comeback battle.” The program’s producing director (PD) previously mentioned last year that if the program was a success, there was a possibility that it might return under the name “Kingdom” for a second season featuring boy groups.
Are you excited to potentially see a second season of “Queendom”—or “Kingdom”? Who would you like to see join this year’s lineup of competitors? Share your thoughts below!
