DreamCatcher Talks About Their Strengths, Their Fans, And Their New Concept

Dreamcatcher recently came back with their first full-length studio album titled “Dystopia: The Tree of Language,” and opened up in an interview about what their comeback has been like.

When asked about why they chose to appear through the V app as frequently as they do, the members said, “Since there are so few opportunities to meet our fans offline, we choose to chat with them online or to greet them through the V app. We get a lot of strength from the support our fans give us that way.”

They admitted that the downside to meeting with fans this way is the exposure to malicious comments. Yoohyeon said, “You can’t be happy all the time. Of course there are some comments that sting, but [I’m] the type to try and move past it.” SuA added, “For every negative comment, there are a ton more comments that are positive.”

JiU also mentioned, “The fans are really good about reporting malicious comments. I gain a lot of strength knowing that we have them on our side.”

The interview then moved on to their strengths as a group. “[What makes us unique is] that we are storytellers,” said Siyeon. “It’s a vibe that only we can create, and [the fans] really like that about us.” JiU added, “We’re really good on stage. When we perform, we strive to make the fans overcome with emotion. Also, we members are actually quite close, so we try to show that relationship through our performances.”

They also opened up on their thoughts about their new concept with “Dystopia: The Tree of Language.” JiU said, “We all enjoy the work that we do. Together we overcome the difficult times, and through that process, we all create the stepping stones [we need to succeed]. Rather than thinking ‘I want to succeed’ or ‘I want to do well,’ we are all of the mind that we think, ‘We want to pay back the love that we’ve been given.’ By those means, our first album [was created] as a way for us to pay back that love.”

Lastly, on the topic of their goals, Siyeon said, “We want the fans to say, ‘DreamCatcher did things their way.’ We want them to feel that we’ve put our own personal stamp on things, and we want them to think, ‘As expected from DreamCatcher’ this time as well.”

They closed out the interview by saying, “We want to show off a beast-like idol image. Like the kind you might only encounter on a safari. We members are working out in real life to improve our muscular strength, as well.”

DreamCatcher dropped their first studio album on February 18, and will be performing comeback stages with the title song, “Scream.” Check out the cinematic music video below if you haven’t already!
