Watch: BTS Makes Their 1st Appearance On "The Today Show" To Talk About New Album "Map Of The Soul: 7"
While BTS is stateside as part of the promotions for their new album that dropped today, they appeared on NBC’s “The Today Show”!
Their February 21 appearance is the first time the group has been on the popular morning show, and they came by to talk about their album “Map of the Soul: 7.”
RM was asked if the group is used to the size of the crowd of fans who come to see them, and RM said they can never get used to fans’ love. When asked why they think BTS is a global sensation, RM said with a laugh, “There could be many reasons – you know, all the members are so cute and attractive. But the most important thing is that music truly transcends language, nationality, and races.”
The group was also asked to talk about their new release. RM explained that the title of the album is “Map of the Soul: 7,” with the “seven” coming from their seven members and seven years since their debut, describing it as the lucky seven.
“This album is like a big statement and declaration that we admit our destiny, and we admit our shadows and light at the same time,” said RM.
It was pointed out to BTS that they’re known for being very positive and spreading joy. When asked why that’s important to them, Jin described how everything that they do is because of ARMY. Jimin said, “ARMY influences us in a positive way, so we think that we need to give a positive energy back to ARMY.”
A clip was shown from their performance music video for their title track “ON,” which came out on February 21. “We’ve been working on this album for a long time, we really like it, we’re super excited,” said Jimin. “It’s finally out!”
ARMY then sang “Boy With Luv” to BTS, and the group was also invited by the hosts back to the plaza for a concert this summer. RM pointed out that doing that would mean ARMY wouldn’t have to wait in the cold weather. “We love summer in New York, so we’ll see!” he said.
