Kim Tae Hee's New Drama "Hi Bye, Mama!" Premieres To No. 1 Ratings
tvN’s new drama “Hi Bye, Mama!” is off to a promising start!
“Hi Bye, Mama!” tells the story of a mother who, after passing away in a tragic accident, is miraculously able to return to her husband and daughter for 49 days as a ghost. Kim Tae Hee stars as the late Cha Yu Ri, who is unable to leave this world behind due to her unfulfilled longing to hold her daughter in her arms. Despite having spent the past five years as a ghost, Cha Yu Ri has managed to maintain her positive and idealistic personality, even in the afterlife.
According to Nielsen Korea, the February 22 series premiere of the drama scored an average nationwide rating of 5.9 percent and a peak of 7.2 percent.
Not only did “Hi, Bye Mama!” take first place in its time slot across all cable channels, but it also took first place across all channels—including public broadcast networks—among the key demographic of viewers ages 20 to 49 (with whom it scored an average rating of 3.7 percent and a peak of 4.5 percent).
Meanwhile, SBS’s new drama “Hyena” scored average nationwide ratings of 7.5 percent and 9.0 percent for its second episode, while KBS 2TV’s “Beautiful Love Wonderful Life” stayed strong with average nationwide ratings of 22.4 percent and 26.9 percent for its two parts.
