"Mister Trot" Gives Official Statement Regarding Delay Of Winner Announcement

TV Chosun’s “Mister Trot” has released an official statement regarding the delay in announcing the winner of the program, which was originally planned for the show’s March 12 broadcast.

The production team stated that they weren’t prepared for the sheer volume of text votes they received during the show’s final competition and that they will do their best to get viewers the final results as quickly and accurately as possible.

As an added measure to show transparency, the “Mister Trot” team plans to reveal the raw data alongside the final results. The production team also plans to donate all proceeds from text voting to the humanitarian development NGO Good Neighbors.

Hello, this is the production team of TV Chosun’s “Mister Trot.” We are relaying our statement regarding the delay in announcing the results of the final competition.

During the show’s 11th episode, aired on March 12, we planned to announce the final winner based on a total score comprised of 50 percent judge scores, 20 percent supporting votes from viewers, and 30 percent real-time text votes. However, the real-time text votes reached an unprecedented number of 7,731,781. We received over 7.73 million text votes in a short amount of time, and during the process of separating the votes for the seven finalists, our server drastically slowed down. We estimated that the process could take anywhere from several hours to several days, so we unfortunately decided to delay the final announcement.

The company handling the real-time text voting for “Mister Trot” is the same company that has handled voting for other leading audition programs in Korea. They’ve told us that they didn’t expect this kind of explosive response from viewers. They said they accept full responsibility for the situation and will do their best to finish the vote counts as soon as possible. We also apologize for being unable to fully prepare for this unexpected situation.

We ask for your patience and understanding, as these are special measures we have taken in order to return the love and support you have given us with transparent, accurate results. While we announced previously that the results would be announced through a special broadcast on March 19 at 10 p.m. (KST), we will do everything we can to announce the results as soon as they have been confirmed for the viewers, who have waited a long time for the results. Moreover, after the announcement, in order to be as transparent as possible, we will also reveal the raw data.

We bow our heads in apology for not being fully prepared for the incredible voting response, and we apologize to the viewers, who are anxiously awaiting the results. Moreover, the production of “Mister Trot” has decided that all proceeds from the paid text voting will be donated to Good Neighbors.
