BTOB's Eunkwang To Be Discharged According To Korea's COVID-19 Prevention Protocol
CUBE Entertainment has announced that BTOB’s Eunkwang will be discharged early next month following South Korea’s novel coronavirus (COVID-19) protocol.
On March 25, the company released an official statement regarding the singer’s discharge, which reads as follows:
Hello, this is Cube Entertainment.
This is a statement regarding BTOB’s Seo Eunkwang and his upcoming discharge, scheduled for April 7.
In compliance with Korea’s COVID-19 protocol, Eunkwang will be discharged from his mandatory military service without returning to the base.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the fans who have waited a long time for Eunkwang’s return, and we ask for your love and support as he returns to scheduled activities following his discharge.
Thank you.
Korea’s Ministry of National Defense enacted new protocols in mid-February which restricted leave and visitation for military personnel to help stop the spread of the virus. As part of these protocols, vacation dates were adjusted so that those on their last vacation prior to their discharge would be dismissed from service without needing to return to their bases. CNBLUE’s Kang Min Hyuk and Lee Jung Shin, as well as 2AM’s Jo Kwon, were all also discharged from the military in accordance with this protocol.
Eunkwang enlisted in the military back in August 2018, and during his service was commended for his philanthropic actions donating money to relief in the Gangwon Province wildfires of 2019 as well as to the Korean Heart Foundation.
