Prosecution Turns Down Arrest Warrant Request For Yang Hyun Suk, Investigation To Continue Without Detention
An arrest warrant requested for Yang Hyun Suk has been turned down.
On March 25, KBS reported an update on the case of suspicions that Yang Hyun Suk interfered in the investigation regarding B.I’s alleged drug purchase. It was reported in February that the police planned to forward Yang Hyun Suk to the prosecution on recommendation of indictment over suspicions that he had threatened the informant in the case.
KBS reports that last week, the police submitted an arrest warrant request for two people including Yang Hyun Suk, however the prosecution has sent it back without filing it with the court.
A source from the prosecution explained to KBS that in the current situation, it would be difficult to acknowledge a reason for his detention. KBS states that it appears that even if the prosecution had requested the warrant, it is very likely that the court would have dismissed it.
The prosecution has therefore given instruction to continue the investigation without physical detention for now.
KBS states that while Yang Hyun Suk has also been investigated by the police for suspicions of gambling abroad and mediating prostitution, this is the first time that they requested an arrest warrant for him.
