Agency Director Issues Statement About Jang Geun Suk's Mother's Tax Evasion

With Jang Geun Suk’s mother indicted without detention on charges of tax evasion, his agency director shared his thoughts regarding the issue.

The following is a full statement from Kim Byung Gun, the director of Jang Geun Suk’s management:

This is director Kim Byung Gun who is in charge of actor Jang Geun Suk’s management.

I’d like to share Tree J Company’s position on the matter considering Jang Geun Suk’s mother.

First of all, I would like to express my deep regret and apology for the series of tax audits involving Jang Geun Suk’s mother. Above all, I apologize that this issue has caused all of you concern while Jang Geun Suk is currently serving in the military as a public service worker.

Jang Geun Suk’s mother is the CEO of Tree J Company and is fully responsible for management control and fund management. Until now, Jang Geun Suk has focused on his acting career and has not been informed of any related facts because his mother had not revealed to him about the management of the funds.

Furthermore, a tax investigation at Tree J Company in 2014 was also a result of her own arbitrary management. Jang Geun Suk is not involved in any part of the company’s tax affairs, and I would like to clarify that the responsibility lies with his mother.

Jang Geun Suk was aware of the serious problems concerning family management through the tax investigation of Tree J Company, so he decided to enlist and go independent at the same time. He then ended all of his business relationships with Tree J Company and was preparing to establish a new company with me (director Kim Byung Gun), who is in charge of management. He wanted to greet everyone through a new agency after his military discharge.

However, because of this incident, Jang Geun Suk is more shocked and devastated than anyone else. He was very disappointed with what his mother showed through her official duties, and he lost his trust in her as a family member because all of this was hidden. Jang Geun Suk will firmly hold her responsible for this, and his mother and Tree J Company will have to faithfully carry out the consequences and responsibilities of the case.

We will also take strong legal action against speculative slander and spreading of false information that defames his name.

Once again, I’d like to tell you that Jang Geun Suk has nothing to do with this. However, since it is a family-managed one-man agency it will be impossible to avoid criticism, so I would like to apologize once again.

Through his new agency, Jang Geun Suk will show his determination as an actor who does his best. Thank you.
