2 Former Members Of The East Light Forwarded To Prosecution For Perjury In Abuse Case
The police have forwarded former The East Light members Lee Eun Sung and Jung Sa Gang to the prosecution over suspicions of perjury in the assault case of former The East Light members Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun.
Back in December of 2018, Media Line Entertainment CEO Kim Chang Hwan, Media Line Entertainment president Lee Jung Hyun, Jung Sa Gang and Lee Eun Sung had opened up a press conference to refute Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun’s claims of abuse.
On May 12, Nam Kang Law Firm, in charge of defending Lee Seok Cheol and Lee Seung Hyun, released the following statement:
Seoul Bangbae Police Station, which has been investigating Kim Chang Hwan, Lee Jung Hyun, former producer Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, Jung Sa Gang for perjury and instigating perjury in the abuse case, has confirmed to have forwarded suspects Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, and Jung Sa Gang to the prosecution without detention on May 7, 2020.
Previously, the victims sued Moon Young Il and Lee Eun Sung for perjury along with Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun for instigating perjury in September 2019 and filed additional charges against Jung Sa Gang for perjury in November 2019. After nearly eight months of investigation, the suspects of perjury were sent to the prosecution for questioning.
However, it is confirmed that the charges of instigating perjury for Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun were sent to the prosecution without recommendation for indictment. Given that perjury is a crime committed by a suspect due to the instigators who benefit from that perjury, it is highly likely that Kim Chang Hwan and Lee Jung Hyun were involved in the perjury committed by Moon Young Il, Lee Eun Sung, and Jung Sa Gang. Therefore, we will make an effort to prove that the accusers instigated perjury in further investigation by the prosecution.
Thank you.
On March 26, the Supreme Court finalized Kim Chang Hwan’s original sentence of eight months in prison, suspended for two years of probation, for aiding and abetting child abuse. They also confirmed Moon Young Il’s sentence of one year and four months.
