Hyerim Shares Shin Min Chul's Reaction After Announcing Their Marriage, What's Changed Since "Don't Be Jealous," And More
Hyerim recently sat down for an interview with Newsen to talk about her 10th debut anniversary, marriage, and her future plans!
Hyerim joined Wonder Girls in 2010 and began her promotions with “2 Different Tears,” meaning she will celebrate her 10th anniversary on May 15.
After hearing herself called a “top entertainer,” Hyerim shyly responded, “That’s such an embarrassing title. Although it’s been 10 years since my debut, I’ve been working hard for variety shows like a sprout.”
She is currently appearing on E Channel’s “Topgoal Rhapsody: Can K-pop also be translated?” as a judge and MBC’s “Don’t Be Jealous” with her fiancé Shin Min Chul.
“Topgoal Rhapsody” is a K-pop survival show featuring foreigners covering Korean songs. Regarding how she came to appear on the show, Hyerim shared, “At first, when I just saw the title, I wondered what ‘Topgoal Rhapsody’ meant, but the premise looked so fun.” She added that once she read the “Can K-pop also be translated?” part, she knew she definitely had to appear.
Hyerim continued, “Since I am someone studying translation and interpretation at school, I am holding how well they can translate and communicate as the standard of my judgement.”
Hyerim is also appearing on “Don’t Be Jealous” with her fiancé Shin Min Chul, showcasing the couple’s daily lives. Since the show is meant to portray the realistic aspects and lifestyles of celebrities in relationships, Hyerim revealed that her biggest concern was whether she would be able to ignore the cameras.
When asked what’s changed since filming “Don’t Be Jealous,” Hyerim answered, “Nothing big has changed, and I haven’t been able to notice anything. Since I can personally watch us as a couple, I’ve been more surprised to see that side of myself.”
She also picked “wedding” as the topic she is most interested in these days. In early May, it was confirmed that Hyerim would be tying the knot with her boyfriend of seven years in July.
She explained, “Inevitably, since my marriage is coming up, I have a lot of interest in things pertaining to weddings, wedding dresses, and marriage preparations.”
Hyerim also discussed Shin Min Chul’s reaction to news of their marriage. She commented, “After our marriage news came out, he said that he felt like he was floating on a cloud. He said he was really excited and happy.”
Hyerim continued, “I’m happy that so many people have congratulated us on our marriage, and I feel very good and relieved to be able to share a secret only I knew with so many people. I will continue to prepare diligently. Please look upon us kindly.”
After recently signing with former Wonder Girls bandmate Yubin’s agency rrr Entertainment, Hyerim shared, “As I start a new beginning with rrr Entertainment, I plan to appear on many variety shows as well as other broadcasts.”
