Yoo Jae Suk Visits Kwanghee, Henry, And Rain To Find More Members For His Co-Ed Group
On the May 16 episode of MBC’s “How Do You Play?”, Yoo Jae Suk continued his quest to form a co-ed group to release a summer dance song.
Previously, Yoo Jae Suk had visited Lee Hyori at her house on Jeju Island to convince her to join the group. This week, Yoo Jae Suk visited former ZE:A member Kwanghee, former Super Junior M member Henry, and singer and actor Rain.
Kwanghee and Yoo Jae Suk briefly worked together on the show “Infinite Challenge,” which was helmed by “How Do You Play?” producing director (PD) Kim Tae Ho. Yoo Jae Suk said, “As soon as you came in and saw me, you went to check for Kim Tae Ho. If he was here, it was ‘How Do You Play?’, and if he wasn’t, then it wasn’t.” Kwanghee denied it, but added, “I am really happy. If you just wait quietly, your time will come.”
However, Kwanghee became anxious about whether he would be a “fixed” member of the group. He said, “It’s important whether or not I’m a fixed member. If someone better comes along, will you kick me out?”
After Lee Ji Hye (former member of the co-ed group S#arp) advised Yoo Jae Suk, “You have to have a foreign member so they can rap in English,” Yoo Jae Suk went to find Henry. However, the two ran into communication issues at the very beginning. He didn’t understand the word “co-ed” in Korean at first, and when he finally got it, he asked, “Are you making an imitation KARD or fake Koyote?”
Henry also didn’t recognize Cool’s songs from the 1990s, as he grew up abroad, but he showed his musical genius by playing to Boney M’s “Bahama Mama” on the violin. Yoo Jae Suk was impressed by his talent, but said, “Your unique color is very strong. I don’t think you can fit in a group. Because you stand out so much.”
Henry commented, “I thought this was going to be a compliment. I refuse this ending. Today is a wash. I refuse this day.”
Third on Yoo Jae Suk’s list was the global superstar Rain. Rain brought up his song “GANG” and showed a positive reaction to it being made into a meme. He said, “You have to ‘gang’ three times a day. Once after breakfast once after lunch, once after dinner. Every time after you eat.”
Yoo Jae Suk said encouragingly, “I wondered what you thought about it. I thought [the dance] was cool. People these days seem to find it fascinating.” But Rain said frankly, “I think they thought it was weird. In the past, a dance singer would have to crush a performance with everything they had and show off their powerful gaze. But nowadays, looking directly into the camera and dancing earnestly is considered tacky.”
He added, “But I enjoyed it. I saw someone do twelve ‘gangs’ a day. I want people to do it more. Do it seven times a day. Once per day is too little. You need to do it three times a day on a weekday and seven times a day on the weekend. Everyone, please stay strong.”
When asked about his family’s response to this meme, he said, “My wife [Kim Tae Hee] knows about it. She’s the same as me. She likes it and thinks it’s fun.”
Rain then danced to a medley of his hits, including “GANG.” At the end, Yoo Jae Suk teamed up with him to perform a little bit together.
