MBK Entertainment Founder Kim Kwang Soo Summoned By Prosecution For Questioning Regarding "Produce 101"
PocketDol Studio executive producer Kim Kwang Soo has been summoned to be questioned by prosecutors regarding allegations surrounding Mnet’s “Produce 101” series.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office summoned Kim Kwang Soo in the morning of May 22 to be questioned as a suspect of vote manipulation.
He is currently facing obstruction of business allegations that he ordered employees of an entertainment agency to vote for their trainees in the first season of “Produce 101” with over 100,000 borrowed-name accounts. The agency in question is said to be MBK Entertainment, which Kim Kwang Soo founded and PocketDol Studio is a subsidiary of.
The allegations were first reported in October 2019 when sources who worked at the agency claimed that an executive had gathered employees in March 2016 and handed them documents with over 100,000 usernames and passwords. The employees claimed that they were then instructed to vote for trainees from the agency.
The allegations surrounding Kim Kwang Soo are a part of a larger investigation into whether vote manipulation took place in the four seasons of the “Produce 101” series.
