Girl Group Main Vocalist Delivers Soulful Performance On "The King Of Mask Singer"

On the May 24 episode of MBC’s “The King of Mask Singer,” a group of challengers took on 6-time champion “Chow Yun Fat” for the crown.

“Wife’s Temptation” went up against “Don Quixote” in the first round, performing Jung In’s “Rainy Season.” Yoo Young Suk complimented Wife’s Temptation, saying, “This is beyond tempting. This is bewitching. Her voice is like cinnamon mixed with brown sugar.”

Wife’s Temptation won the round against Don Quixote and later faced off against “Shield” in Round 3. This round would decide who would face off against the champion in the final round. Just before they performed, the champion Chow Yun Fat said, “Both are really good, so I’m nervous right now.”

Wife’s Temptation sang Brown Eyed Soul’s “Brown City,” while Shield sang Kim Dong Ryul’s “Companion.” Yoo Young Suk said, “Wife’s Temptation has a vocal tone that deserves a perfect score. The downside to this kind of tone is that the range tends to be narrow, but Wife’s Temptation has a wide range as well.”

In the end, Shield won the round with 19 votes to 2. Wife’s Temptation unmasked herself to reveal her identity as IZ*ONE’s main vocalist, Jo Yu Ri.

She said, “This is a program that I wanted to be on since I was a trainee. I don’t go on Korean variety shows very often, so my family always asks me, ‘When will you appear on TV?’ I’m happy that I’m finally here.” She added, “When it comes to IZ*ONE, whether it’s in singing, dancing, or variety, each member is a key part of our team. I’m glad that Yu Jin came on this show before, and I think Ye Na and Chae Won should come on the show as well.”
