Watch: BTS' Suga Explains Meaning Behind Agust D's "Daechwita" MV + Jin And Jungkook Talk About Their Cameos
On May 24, BTS’s YouTube channel BANGTANTV shared a behind-the-scenes look at Agust D’s music video for “Daechwita.”
Earlier this week, BTS’ Suga made his return as his rap alter ego, Agust D, via the new mixtape “D-2.” The mixtape soon swept iTunes charts around the world as fans celebrated Agust D’s first comeback in four years.
In the behind-the-scenes video, Suga explained that one of the roles he is playing in the music video is the mad king. He said, “The Agust D from four years ago has become a king, but he is in conflict with another Agust D.”
He continued, “The title track from ‘D-2,’ ‘Daechwita,’ is a song that puts more emphasis on auditory enjoyment rather lyrical enjoyment. I’d like it if you focused on the visual and auditory experiences. I made this the title track because I thought it would be fun.”
BTS’s Jin and Jungkook both made cameo appearances in the music video. Jin said, “We came here as extras.” Jungkook said, “Don’t think of us as BTS. We are the actors Kim Seokjin [Jin’s real name] and Jungkook.” Jin quipped, “Yoongi [Suga’s real name] begged us to appear just once.”
Jin and Jungkook’s cameo appearance originally had two versions: one in which they joined Suga in bopping to the music and one in which they got in a fight (which ended up as the final cut).
J-Hope, who sent a coffee truck to the set of the music video, made a surprise appearance in the behind-the-scenes video. J-Hope said, “You look so cool! What happened to your eye?”, referring to the fake scar on Suga’s face. Suga said, “I looked cooler yesterday. As long as those two [Jin and Jungkook] do well, it’s done.”
