VIXX Celebrates Their 8th Debut Anniversary

On May 24, VIXX celebrated the eighth anniversary of their debut!

Formed through the reality show “MyDOL,” VIXX was the first idol group to debut under Jellyfish Entertainment. The group made their debut in 2012 with the single “Super Hero.” The group became known as “concept idols” after taking on a variety of fantasy and sci-fi-based concepts in music videos like “On and On,” “Hyde,” “Voodoo Doll,” “Error,” “Chained Up,” and “Shangri-La,” as well as their three-part “Conception” album series.

In 2019, Leo, Ken, Hongbin, and Hyuk renewed their contracts with Jellyfish Entertainment. Ravi remains part of VIXX but is now part of his own label, GROOVL1N Records. N’s contract negotiations will take place after his discharge from military service. As of 2020, N and Leo have both enlisted in the military, while Hongbin is on hiatus from activities. Ken, who recently released a solo album, will be enlisting this summer.

In a Twitter video, Ken, Ravi, and Hyuk sent messages to their fans. Ken said, “This is VIXX’s cutie main vocal, Ken. VIXX has finally reached our eighth anniversary! Thank you so much to our families, our babies [fans], the members, and the staff at Jellyfish. Just like during our seventh and sixth anniversaries, now that we’ve reached our eighth anniversary, I wanted to say this to everyone who loves us. Thank you so, so much, and I love you. I recently released a new album. Please send it a lot of love and support. I want to see you, my babies and members. I love you.”

Ravi said, “Hello, it’s Ravi. It’s finally May 24, our eighth anniversary! Over the past eight years, there were many good times and hard times, but thank you for always shining beautifully by our side. I really want to see you all from the stage and spend time with you all, so I hope that these difficult times will pass soon so that we can spend even more time together. Thank you for staying with us for eight years. Let’s stay together for even longer! Thank you and I love you.”

Hyuk said, “Hey everyone, it’s VIXX’s maknae Hyuk. VIXX has already, somehow arrived at our eighth anniversary. Congratulations, VIXX, on turning eight! Honestly, it’s a difficult time for everyone right now, and I’m sure everyone feels both regretful and disappointed. I am the same. But, just like before, just like now, and just like in future, as long as VIXX and Starlights (VIXX’s fanclub name) stay by each other’s side, we can overcome this together. I hope that the time soon will arrive when we can make great memories together again.”

On Instagram, Ken and Hyuk shared a photo they had taken together with a cake to celebrate the occasion. On the same day, Hyuk went to cheer on Ken, who was performing as a solo artist on “Inkigayo.” Later, the two also held a V Live broadcast to talk with fans about their anniversary.
