IZ*ONE's Management Announces Strong Legal Action Against Malicious Comments

IZ*ONE’s agencies are taking firm legal action in protection of the girl group.

On May 25, the following official statement was released:

Hello.

This is Off The Record and Swing Entertainment, in charge of joint management for IZ*ONE.

First of all, we express gratitude to the fans who love and support IZ*ONE.

Previously in November of last year, we filed a first round of legal complaints via the law firm Jipyong against those who wrote malicious insults or spread false information about the IZ*ONE members for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) and the crime of insult. Significant progress has been made on the investigation of this case after being assigned to the prosecutor and investigative office in charge.

Considering the discouraged psychological states and mental shock received by the members at the time, we took legal action quietly without releasing reports. However, the malicious comments that are being posted on various online communities and portal sites continue to be severe to a point that cannot be overlooked.

As a result, we would like to share with fans that we will now take stronger legal action in order to protect our artists and put an end to malicious comments. Along with the law firm Jipyong, we plan on filing a second round of additional legal complaints against malicious commenters from content that we monitored ourself along with screenshots sent by IZ*ONE’s fan union for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (defamation) and the crime of insult.

We will continue to put in our best effort into protecting our artists through continuous monitoring, and we plan on taking strong legal action without leniency or settlement regarding posts with malicious insults or the spread of unconfirmed false information that defame our artists.
