TWICE Opens Up About New Mini Album Concept, Difficulty Of "MORE & MORE" Choreography, And More
TWICE has opened up about their new mini album, what the concept is, how difficult the choreography of the title track is, and what they hope to hear from people.
The girl group will be releasing their ninth mini album “MORE & MORE” at 6 p.m. KST on June 1 with a title track of the same name. This will be their first comeback in approximately nine months since “Feel Special” last September.
When asked to describe the new mini album, Nayeon said, “When you fall in love, you want to more about that person. It’s an album that reflects that desire to know more and want more of the person you fall in love with.” Momo explained, “I think I can describe it as an album that says, ‘I want more from you!’ It’s a bold declaration that doesn’t hold back on expressing one’s emotions.” Sana added, “The keyword of our album concept was ‘eager desire.’ We tried to reflect that in our concept photos and music video.”
The members explained that the two visual concepts they had gone for in their teaser images were hippie and nature, with Jeongyeon saying, “The hippie concept is one that TWICE has never tried before, and it creates a bold and free aura. This concept goes really well with our title track, and I think the members did so well in taking on the concept.” Jihyo shared, “The other concept is nature. And the two concepts are completely different. If the hippie concept is more bold, then the nature concept feels very pure and clean.” Mina brought the two concepts together as she explained, “Though they feel different, the two share a common theme of looking for something in the forest. If the hippie concept is like a free spirit that is wandering through the forest, then the nature concept is like when fairies are roaming the forest.”
When asked which member took on the visual concepts the best, the members came together to say that all of them looked stunning. One member who was highlighted by multiple members was Chaeyoung, with Sana saying, “If I had to pick just one member, Chaeyoung looked really good in the hippie style, probably because that’s how she likes to dress. Seeing her in her hippie outfit was like seeing Chaeyoung in her daily life.”
The members revealed that in their music video, something they had focused on was the choreography, and revealed that “MORE & MORE” has the most difficult choreography out of all of their title tracks so far. All of the members chose “MORE & MORE” as the title track with the most difficult choreography, with previous songs like “Feel Special,” “YES or YES,” “Fancy,” and “Dance the Night Away” also being chosen by the members for their top three.
Along with the title track, TWICE chose their favorite songs from the mini album. Dahyun picked “Shadow” and explained, “I really like the melody, as well as the lyrics that don’t hide the restrained emotions we hope to convey,” while Chaeyoung picked “Firework” and said, “It’s the first time we’re taking on the Latin pop genre. It felt really refreshing and we had fun recording it.” Tzuyu chose “Sweet Summer Day” and said, “It feels like a song that goes well with summer, and I like how energetic it is,” and Jihyo chose “Oxygen” and revealed, “This was a potential title track when we were preparing our ‘Feel Special’ album.”
Finally, TWICE was asked what they want to hear most through the release of their new mini album, and Nayeon said, “We want to hear that it feels ‘new.’ We want to hear that TWICE continues to show growth, and that people are excited to hear what we’ll do in our next album. Jihyo added, “‘A group with great performances!’ And I hope we’re able to show that TWICE are artists. We’ll be happy if we get responses like ‘TWICE is so cool,’ and ‘I didn’t know TWICE had this kind of side to them.'”
TWICE will be releasing “MORE & MORE” at 6 p.m. KST on June 1. Catch up with all of their teasers in the meantime!
