Former "Produce 48" Contestant Ko Yu Jin Says She No Longer Plans To Debut
Former “Produce 48” contestant Ko Yu Jin has given up on her dream of becoming a singer.
On June 3, Ko Yu Jin posted about her current situation on Instagram Stories. This appeared to be a response to the comments she received after making a guest appearance on a live broadcast hosted by her friend, a broadcast jockey on AfreecaTV.
In the Instagram Stories post, Ko Yu Jin stated that she had parted ways with her agency. “I wanted to make my debut, but things did not go the way I had hoped,” she wrote. “It’s something to do with luck and timing, but there were also negative things that happened. It was a huge mental drain on me, so I decided to stop.”
In the statement, she clarified that she was not able to talk about these things in detail at present, but would talk about them in future.
She continued, “I worked hard and trained for a long time, but once I started thinking about how this life was grinding me down, each day became harder and harder. That’s why I decided to give up on the dream I’d held for a long time. I’m so sorry to the fans who had been waiting for my debut, but I’ve decided to live the rest of my life as a non-celebrity.”
Ko Yu Jin also explained that she had not meant to mislead fans about her upcoming debut. She wrote that she had been unable to talk about her debut, her agency, or her current situation.
She went on, “I set up YouTube and Instagram accounts and went on the AfreecaTV broadcast in order to express my gratitude to the fans who had sent me their love and support until now. I intend to repay the love I have received through creating good content and showing what I can do – not as an idol trainee but as a non-celebrity who can communicate with the people who support her.”
Ko Yu Jin was a trainee at Blockberry Creative at the time of her appearance on “Produce 48.” She also spent time as a trainee under 8D Creative.
