Super Junior-K.R.Y. Talks About Plans For Promotions, Reactions To New Album From Other Members, And More

Super Junior-K.R.Y. has made their long-awaited return!

On June 8 at 6 p.m. KST, the trio released the mini album “When We Were Us” along with a music video for the title track of the same name.

In an interview with Herald Pop, Super Junior-K.R.Y. talked about finally releasing an album in Korea, what’s in store for their upcoming promotions, and more.

When asked how the members felt returning to the Korean music scene after almost 15 years since the trio’s formation, Yesung said, “This is an album we have waited for as much as our fans, so I am very happy and thankful.”

Ryeowook added, “Since I have waited a long time for Super Junior-K.R.Y’s album just as our fans did, this album is more meaningful to me. I like it even more, and I hope that it receives a lot of love from many people.”

Kyuhyun commented, “I am happy thinking that this album will become a great present, as our fans have looked forward to it for a long time.”

The members then described their title track “When We Were Us.” Ryeowook said, “It’s a song with a really great melody. I also think that it could work as a drama OST.”

Kyuhyun added, “Regardless of whether it’s happy or sad, I think that any memory becomes a beautiful one after time passes. If you listen to the song while thinking of fond memories, you will be able to feel the song’s atmosphere a little better.”

Next, the members each chose a color for their unit group. Yesung decided on orange, saying, “The color of Ryeowook’s voice seems like a spring pink. Kyuhyun’s is brown like autumn, and mine is like the white winter. If you mix Ryeowook’s pink, Kyuhyun’s brown, and my white, I think it’ll be an orange color.”

On the other hand, Ryeowook chose blue, comparing it to Super Junior’s group color pearl sapphire blue. He said, “Even if it’s a unit group, I don’t think the color changes because even when it’s the three of us, it’s just as fun as when we are with the entire group, and E.L.Fs (Super Junior’s fandom name) still love us constantly.”

Kyuhyun chose navy, saying, “Super Junior-K.R.Y. has a color that is one level deeper and darker than Super Junior’s pearl sapphire blue.”

Yesung and Ryeowook then shared what parts they played in creating their album. Yesung said, “I usually suggest ideas about the visual aspect. I think a lot of my suggestions about the album jacket image and our wardrobe were reflected.”

Ryeowook added, “All the songs on our album were so equally good that it was hard to decide on a title track. I really liked our current title track ‘When We Were Us,’ so I want to say that my opinion was gathered [to choose the title track] to a certain extent. Also, we all thought about the direction for the vocals overall and how the three of us can create harmony.”

Ryeowook then revealed how the other Super Junior members reacted to the trio’s new album. He said, “The members listened to the song and said it was really great! They’re all honest so you can tell by their faces if it’s not good, but they supported us sincerely, saying that the song was good.”

The members also talked about what they hope to show fans as Super Junior-K.R.Y. Yesung said, “I hope that Super Junior-K.R.Y.’s album will make all the people who waited happy. If I had another wish, it would be that there will be more people who love our music after listening to this album. I’d be very thankful.”

Ryeowook said, “Rather than a big goal, I just want to give back to our fans who waited a long time by showing good sides of us.”

Kyuhyun commented, “I want to gift many people an unforgettable summer song.”

Next, the trio talked about plans for promotions. Ryeowook said, “If possible, we want to be on many stages and variety programs. Please look forward to everything we do as a trio!”

Kyuhyun responded, “First, we plan to show you performances of our new song through many music programs. We are preparing internet broadcasts and various content so more people can watch us.”

As a final thought, the members relayed messages to one another. Kyuhyun said to Ryeowook, “Ryeowook with a jade-like national treasure of a voice, I always love you. Let’s be together for a long time!”

Ryeowook spoke to Yesung, saying, “Yesung, you must be busy filming for your movie. You have worked hard singing and acting. But since our album is out, let’s have fun promoting. You know that your voice is always No. 1 in my heart, right? Don’t be sick, and always be healthy!”

Yesung wrapped things up with a short but sweet message to Kyuhyun: “Kyuhyun, let’s be happy! As always, thank you.”
