Writer Of Song Ji Hyo's New Drama Talks About The Cast's Strengths, Reasons For Creating A Romance Drama, And More

JTBC’s upcoming Wednesday-Thursday drama “Was It Love?” will be premiering soon!

“Was It Love?” is a romantic comedy starring Song Ji Hyo as Noh Ae Jung, a movie producer and single mom who has been living on her own for 14 years. Despite having already given up on romance, she suddenly finds herself embarking on an unexpected second chapter of her love life when four very different men enter her story at the same time.

Lee Seung Jin, the writer, revealed what to look forward to ahead of the drama’s premiere.

First, Lee Seung Jin described the drama as a never-before-seen romance that deals with a “love pentagon.” Lee Seung Jin said, “I hope you think of your first love, your shining 20s, and a romance of five colors while watching the heart-fluttering affection toward the four men.”

Lee Seung Jin explained why she chose to create a romance drama. “We live in a generation where we give up on love and dreams,” she said. “Love and dreams have at some point become a luxury, as we live a heartless reality everyday. I started this drama in hopes that I could extend this luxury to someone for just one hour, twice a week.” She then expressed her desire to present a light, romance-filled, and consistently funny drama to those living difficult lives.

She then talked about the cast, which includes Song Ji Hyo, Son Ho Jun, Song Jong Ho, Koo Ja Sung, and Kim Min Joon. “The cast is very fitting,” she said. “The bright and brave Song Ji Hyo is 100 percent like her character Noh Ae Jung. We’re looking forward to how the mischievous-looking Son Ho Jun will become even more extraordinarily mischievous through his character Oh Dae Oh.”

She continued, “We are sure Song Jong Ho, who is neat and kind but witty when you talk to him, will portray both the pitiful and successful traits of his character well.” Lee Seung Jin also shared that Koo Ja Sung’s sweet smile and warm way of talking were perfect for the character Oh Yeon Woo, and Kim Min Joon was very similar to how the writer imagined the character Goo Pa Do.

Lee Seung Jin concluded with what she wishes to gift viewers. “We believe nowadays that we must have money and time in order to achieve our dreams and find love,” she said. “Through our intentionally extravagant drama, I want to gift viewers with the feeling of excitement that comes with not knowing when that sense of love one had felt before will find them again, as well as the comfort of knowing that they are worthy of being loved.”

She continued, “I truly hope this drama’s mere existence will allow someone who has had a bad day to feel better.”
