BTS’s V has set a new record on iTunes as a solo artist!
V released his self-composed song “Sweet Night” for the “Itaewon Class” OST on March 13. On the day of its release, “Sweet Night” topped the iTunes Top Songs charts in 77 regions worldwide, and by May 25, the number had risen to 88 regions. With this, V had broken PSY’s record for the highest number of iTunes Top Songs chart No. 1s for a track by a Korean soloist.
On July 8 KST, as a result of ARMY’s united efforts, V’s “Sweet Night” topped its 103rd iTunes Top Songs chart, breaking Adele’s record for the most No. 1s on the chart by a solo artist, which was set about five years ago, in October 2015, with 102 regions.
The overall record for any group or solo artist with the most iTunes Top Songs charts topped had also been held by Adele’s “Hello,” and this record was broken by BTS’s “Black Swan” on July 6 with 103 countries, which has since gone up to 104 countries.
Congratulations to V and ARMY on the new record!
