'Idol School' Producers Indicted Over Suspicions Of Vote Manipulation

Producers of the Mnet survival show “Idol School” are being sent to trial over suspicions of vote rigging.

On July 8, it was shared that the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office indicted two “Idol School” producers including chief producer “Kim” yesterday without detention for charges including obstruction of business and fraud.

They are suspected of having manipulated the paid votes from viewers for “Idol School,” which aired from July to September 2017. While fans had questioned the vote numbers in the show back in 2017, the issue was raised again in 2019 after suspicious vote totals were noticed in the finale of Mnet’s “Produce X 101.” Investigations have therefore been carried out regarding both the “Produce 101” series and “Idol School.”

In May, producers Ahn Joon Young and Kim Yong Bum received prison sentences for manipulating the votes of all four seasons of the “Produce 101” series.
