Watch: MBC’s Sci-Fi Crossover Project "SF8" Gives Glimpse Of 4 Unique Stories In Exciting Teasers
MBC’s upcoming sci-fi crossover project “SF8” released four new teasers!
Set in the near future, “SF8” tells the story of people who dream of a perfect society through technological advancements. This project is a Korean original sci-fi anthology series about an array of subjects including artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), robots, gaming, fantasy, horror, superpowers, and disasters.
The eight Directors Guild of Korea (DGK) directors participating in this project include Kim Eui Deok, Roh Deok, Min Kyu Dong, Ahn Gooc Jin, Oh Ki Hwan, Lee Yoon Jung, Jang Cheol Soo, and Han Ka Ram. Each director will present a 40-minute project for “SF8.”
First off, Kim Bo Ra and Choi Sung Eun will appear in director Lee Yoon Jung’s queer youth story “Joan’s Galaxy,” which takes place during a fine dust disaster. In the beginning of the teaser, the two characters are happily running somewhere. However, things take a dark change as they struggle to breathe inside astronaut helmets.
Lee Yeon Hee and Lee Dong Hwi will appear in director Roh Deok’s “Manxin.” The caption reads that there is a future forecasting app with 96% accuracy called Manxin. Lee Yeon Hee seems to be searching for something, and Lee Dong Hwi questions why she’s looking for that particular object.
Lee Si Young and Ha Joon are set to appear in director Han Ka Ram’s fierce female action film “Blink.” The teaser shows that she is the only one who is able to see a mysterious young man who turns out to be an AI. He asks, “Aren’t you curious to see what kind of abilities I have?”
Lee Yoo Young, Ye Soo Jung, Yeom Hye Ran, and Yoon Kyung Ho will tell the story of a world run by robots in director Min Kyu Dong’s “The Prayer.” In this particular place, one person must die if one person is to live. Lee Yoo Young, who plays a nurse robot with no feelings, asks, “If the patient has to die for the guardian to live, then can robots pray as well?”
“SF8” will be exclusively pre-released on the OTT platform wavve on July 10, and it will be available on MBC in mid-August.
