12 K-Drama Rom-Com Queens Who Never Fail To Impress
When it comes to K-drama romantic comedy actresses, it’s hard to really pinpoint which of them are at the top of the list mainly because so darn many of them are so good at what they do. Rom-com queens are naturals when it comes to showcasing humor, sympathy, and love basically any time they’re acting. And with all the rom-com actresses that are also up and coming, this is focused more on the veterans and ones that could be considered true K-drama rom-com legends. Here’s a highlight of just 12 of them!
This list is in no particular order.
1. Hwang Jung Eum
If there is any drama Hwang Jung Eum comes out in, it’s almost always guaranteed to be a romantic-comedy. She is so good at playing that extra, over-the-top, and charming female lead who has a whirlwind of a romance. Most notably, her role as Oh Ri Jin in “Kill Me Heal Me” is one to be remembered—especially the scene where she raps.

2. Park Min Young
Park Min Young can do it all when it comes to drama roles. She’s naturally gifted in the art, and any role she takes on is a likely success, but her comedic roles are the ones that can truly be appreciated. In just the past few years, Park Min Young has starred in some memorable romantic comedies including “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim” and “Her Private Life.” Their scripts and casts are amazing, but Park Min Young is exceptionally good in delivering the comedy. We really can’t get enough of her!

3. Jun Ji Hyun
This list would obviously not be complete without the great Jun Ji Hyun. Jun Ji Hyun is a veteran in the entertainment industry, and she is one of the original icons for rom-com queens with her very famous role in the movie “My Sassy Girl.” Although she hasn’t been in too many K-dramas, when she does star in one, she is flawlessly hysterical. She’s what we would call a total natural.

4. Jang Nara
There are many roles that Jang Nara has played that have been refreshingly hilarious. She has a knack for choosing roles that are not only funny but heartwarming. Her role as the average girl Kim Mi Young who falls in love with a chaebol in “Fated to Love You” is one that can both make you cry and laugh at the same time. The same feelings are brought about in her role as Ma Jin Joo in “Go Back Couple.” She has such undeniable talent!

5. Son Ye Jin
Although some may remember Son Ye Jin more for her serious roles, she has definitely made her mark in rom-com dramas such as “Personal Taste” and her recent K-drama “Crash Landing On You.” In her latest drama, her role as the high-maintenance chaebol Yoon Se Ri is nothing short of perfection in terms of comedic genius. Through this drama in particular, she has proven that she is not just a melodramatic actress but that she can do it all.

6. Gong Hyo Jin
Gong Hyo Jin’s repertoire of films and K-dramas is endless. She has been in the industry for quite some time now and has become quite reputable, especially when it comes to rom-com queen standards. One of the K-dramas that really started this reputation of hers is her role as Seo Yoo Kyung in the MBC K-drama “Pasta.” Her ability to seem passive but also be stubborn and head-strong is entertaining to see. Since then, she’s starred in more K-dramas that went on to become mega hits like “The Greatest Love,” “The Master’s Sun,” “It’s Okay, That’s Love,” “Don’t Dare to Dream,” and most recently “When the Camellia Blooms.”

7. Park Bo Young
We’ve seen Park Bo Young grow up before our eyes and evolve into a respectable and reputable actress. She has taken on so many diverse roles and made a name for herself that she can be proud of. Her roles in “Oh My Ghostess” and “Strong Woman Do Bong Soon” specifically really showcased her ability to be funny, and we’re definitely looking forward to her return on the small screen!

8. Shin Min Ah
Shin Min Ah has proven time and time again that she’s got what it takes to be a rom-com genius. Although her serious roles are captivating, her charm really shines when she takes on more comedic characters. Her most memorable roles include playing the playful and sassy Mi Ho in “My Girlfriend is a Gumiho” and Kang Joo Eun in “Oh My Venus.”

9. Kim Seul Gi
Although Kim Seul Gi isn’t as well-known as some of the legendary names on this list, she definitely deserves a spot! If Kim Seul Gi is in a rom-com, the chances are that it’s good! Even though they are not always lead roles, her characters in rom-coms are hilarious and leaving lasting impressions. We also can’t fail to mention her epic role as the adorable student Jang Dan Bi in “Splash Splash Love“!

10. Nam Ji Hyun
Nam Ji Hyun is another actress we have seen grow up right before our eyes. As a child actress, Nam Ji Hyun showed promising talent, and so it’s really no surprise that she has become as successful as she is today. Her comedic talent is so noteworthy especially in her roles as Go Bok Sil in “Shopaholic Louis” and Eun Bong Hee in “Suspicious Partner.” She’s got such a natural talent at making her characters so goofy but charming!

11. Jung Yu Mi
When Jung Yu Mi takes on a role, she’s always bound to have amazing chemistry with her co-stars, which is why her romantic comedies are always such a delight to watch. In particular, her roles as Joo Yeol Mae in “I Need Romance 2” and Han Yeo Reum in “Discovery of Love” were both so relatable and lovable. Jung Yu Mi makes you feel like she’s your best friend, and she really tugs at your heartstrings!

12. Choi Kang Hee
We really can’t forget about Choi Kang Hee when it comes to romantic comedies. People who are fans of Choi Kang Hee know that when they see her in a K-drama, they can get the same infectious and honest personality every time. She’s got a charm about her that anyone can appreciate, which is why she’s so successful today!
