SSAK3's Debut Triples "Music Core" Ratings To Their Highest All Year
SSAK3’s appearance on MBC’s “Music Core” led to an impressive boost in the music show’s viewership ratings!
On July 25, Yoo Jae Suk, Lee Hyori, and Rain’s new co-ed trio SSAK3—which was formed on the MBC variety show “How Do You Play?”—made their highly-anticipated debut on the latest episode of “Music Core.”
According to Nielsen Korea, the episode featuring SSAK3 scored an average viewership rating of 2.1 percent, more than tripling its viewership from last week (when it scored an average rating of 0.6 percent).
Because music shows airing on public broadcast networks (such as “Music Core,” “Music Bank,” and “Inkigayo“) typically score ratings in the 0 to 1 percent range, this latest figure was a noticeable outlier. Not only does it mark the highest rating “Music Core” has achieved all year, but it marks the highest rating achieved by any of the three music shows in 2020. Before July 25, none of the three shows had managed to reach 2 percent this year—”Music Core” hadn’t even managed to break past 1.5 percent.
SSAK3’s explosive popularity also catapulted their debut song “Beach Again” (also known as “Summer Sea Again”) to the top of the music charts, making it the fifth song in 2020 to achieve a perfect all-kill.
