Kang Daniel's Agency Shares Update On Legal Action Against Malicious Commenters

KONNECT Entertainment has shared new updates regarding legal action they are taking on behalf of Kang Daniel against malicious comments and posts.

On July 28, the agency released the following statement:

Hello, this is KONNECT Entertainment.

We would like to once again express our deep gratitude to fans for your interest and love for our artist Kang Daniel.

As we have stated in previous notices, we are currently putting in the effort to fight against malicious and defamatory posts online against Kang Daniel. Since April 2020, we have been working with LIWU Law Group to run the “Clean Internet Center.” The monitoring team at the “Clean Internet Center” continually monitors posts that direct malicious slander, sexual harassment, and defamation at our artist, and we also continue to receive tips from fans. With the cases we collect, we conduct a legal analysis and have been taking action, including sending strict warnings and requests to delete posts to those who have made such posts.

Despite the actions we have taken through the “Clean Internet Center” to warn and request the deletion of posts, some malicious commenters have left their posts up, and we have submitted a third round of complaints to the Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office on July 24, 2020. Despite the successes we have seen in decreasing the number of malicious posts through our warnings and requests, we believed there was a need to pursue investigations and criminal punishment as some individuals refuse to comply with requests and the severity of the content they post is concerning. In accordance with the results of the investigation, we will submit claims for damages against these individuals and hold them responsible.

We know that pursuing these charges cannot be enough to make up for the emotional injury experienced, not only by our artist, but fans as well. However, we will continue to do our best with the belief that our work with the “Clean Internet Center” will help lessen malicious posts, and we hope these charges will help bring about a more mature online environment.

We will continue to pursue all legal action against those who make malicious posts against our artist. We ask for your continued interest, support, and tips.
