Comedian Kim Tae Gyun Apologizes To (G)I-DLE For His Behavior During Radio Show
Kim Tae Gyun, one of the hosts of the SBS Power FM radio show “Cultwo Show,” has apologized to (G)I-DLE for his behavior during a recent broadcast.
On August 9, he wrote in a social media post:
I apologize to (G)I-DLE fans and those who were made uncomfortable when I imitated the foreign (G)I-DLE members’ non-fluent Korean while I was interviewing them on live broadcast. I was absolutely not caricaturing them. I found their passionate intonation cute, so I copied them, but it is clear that many people found this uncomfortable.
Naturally, I contacted their agency and sent them an apology. Due to many mistakes, I am uploading this apology again. In future, I will be more careful in respecting the other person’s position as a host. Thank you for reading this long post.
This incident took place during the live broadcast of “Cultwo Show” on August 6. (G)I-DLE’s Yuqi and Shuhua, who are from China and Taiwan respectively, were talking about a convenience store when Kim Tae Gyun imitated part of what they said. After the broadcast, listeners criticized his behavior as unbefitting of a host.
(G)I-DLE is currently promoting their latest comeback with “DUMDi DUMDi.”
