AOA's Seolhyun's Upcoming Drama Issues Brief Response To Calls For Her To Step Down
Upcoming tvN drama “Night and Day” (literal title) has released a short statement in response to calls for AOA’s Seolhyun to step down from her role.
Seolhyun was previously reported to be in talks for “Night and Day,” which stars Namgoong Min. The drama is about an incident that took place in a village 26 years ago. People who have gained intelligence beyond normal human capabilities in exchange for losing their emotions will gather together due to the mysterious incident in order to take down the people who used them as tools. In the process, they try to find their identities as regular people.
Namgoong Min stars as Do Jung Woo, a special detective at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and Lee Chung Ah was also in talks to star as an FBI agent. Seolhyun is playing the role of Gong Hye Won, a police inspector at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency.
“Night and Day” is set to air sometime in the second half of this year and is currently in the middle of filming. But in early July, former AOA member Mina accused Jimin of bullying her during her time in the girl group. Jimin eventually left the group, but in some of her subsequent accusations, Mina said that other members of AOA, including Seolhyun, had acted as bystanders in the affair. As a result, some people online have called for Seolhyun to step down from her new drama.
A source from the drama stated, “We plan to go forward as planned. Unless the actor expresses a wish to step down herself, we will not make any changes.”
